I Can Do It

At least I can try…

It can't be done,
someone said of it,
precisely why am doing it,
for I can never tell,
not unless I get to try.

It can't be done,
no one has done it,
precisely why I have to try,
for I can live with failure,
not with always wondering "what if...?"

It can't be done,
said some prophets of doom,
precisely why I just have to,
not so much as to prove the naysayers wrong,
but more so to prove to myself I am right.

It can't be done,
that's what you think,
but I could not believe it,
until I myself have,
tried and proven such is right.

It can't be done,
how many times,
do they have to tell me?
why don't they know?
I just have to know what I can do!
